My other half.

Ian's pretty awesome.  Awesome in general, but particularly awesome with all this mutant and surgery stuff.

Ian doesn't like internal medicine.  Blood and guts grosses him out.  Even just the thought of innards makes him queasy.  But he's been a real champ at all the consultations, testings, and countless trips to the hospital.  He listens attentively and asks good questions.  And even when the doctors are discussing some pretty graphic details of the inner workings of my body, he takes it all in, and doesn't flinch.  Watch out - this guy's got a good poker face.

It's really important to me that all you out there take care of Ian as much as you take care of me.  I've been the caretaker a few times to others, and I think it's going to be as hard on Ian as it's going to be on me.  But honestly, don't ask how he is.  Or how he's doing.   I know you mean well by asking, and you probably don't know what else to say, but come on, those are silly questions, and kind of obvious. His wife is going to have major surgery.  OF COURSE he's not okay.  OF COURSE he's not doing fine.

Instead of asking, just bring him some food, play video games with him, talk about sports, and take him out for a beer.  Most of all, make him laugh.
