Sometimes I don't like living in Toronto. I dislike the high cost of living, the winters, and annoyances like transit strikes and garbage strikes. And sometimes I wish I lived in a bigger city, like New York. Or Edinburgh. Which isn't actually bigger, but it's in Scotland, so it wins in my books.
But lately I've been reminded of why I do really like it here. There's the usual stuff, like amazing theatre and opera and restaurants and shops and museums. Oh, and concerts. And Ian likes the sports. And we both love the overall culture of the city and the people.
Add one more thing to the list - world class hospitals. With world class doctors, doing world class research. All within a streetcar ride.
I'm so glad I don't have to travel far to have any of this done. It's already annoying enough having to go to the hospital for all these appointments - imagine if I had to drive 4 hours to get there.
Oh, and the fact that it's all free is pretty awesome too.
New York, Paris, London, and Edinburgh are great places to visit. But I'm staying put in Toronto. Until further notice.
