I'll do it later...

Life is busy and hectic and there are a zillion things going on and it always feels like you can never catch up. And things fall through the cracks all the time.

I know how it is.

This morning, I'm going to the dentist. It's the first time in 3 years. I don't even have a good reason for not going sooner - just that life is busy and hectic and there are a zillion things going on and it always feels like I can never catch up. And things fall through the cracks all the time.

So often, we ignore our health. If something isn't screaming for attention, we forget about it. And the regular maintenance stuff gets left behind, not because we're trying to stick our heads in the sand and pretend it's not there, but because it's just not that big a deal.

Trust me, it is a big deal.

So please go do whatever it is you need to do. Ladies, get your pap smears. I know they are so uncomfortable and gross, but just do it. And gentlemen, get your physicals and your prostate exams, or whatever gross stuff you know you should do, but haven't done in a while.  And if you think something might be wrong, FIX IT.  Go get it checked out.   And if a doctor tells you it's nothing, but you think it might be something, do not give up.  You must be vigilant about your own health, and listen to your body.

I am taking my own advice and heading to the dentist.  Here's hoping that I don't have any cavities.

  2. The dentist was good. I have to go back for a follow-up cleaning because my teeth were so dirty, but no cavities!
