Update #8
Ave's been doing well this morning, drinking clear fluids - she'll have her own room tomorrow. This afternoon the nurses are going to get her up and moving a little.
I have a BRCA 1 genetic mutation (aka "The Breast Cancer Gene") that puts me at a high risk for breast and ovarian cancer. I inherited the gene from my mother, who died of ovarian cancer at the age of 52.
I'm 29 years old. I do not have cancer. I don't want to have cancer. So I'm doing everything I can, including a double mastectomy, to prevent it before it even starts. I'm having my surgery on November 12.
For more information about BRCA, visit the FORCE website.
