3 sleeps until the surgery. Still feeling pretty good. Had a moment or two of low-level anxiety today, but nothing too major.
I got a call today from Dr. Hofer's office asking if I wanted to participate in any of 3 research studies that are available to me. Ummm, yes! I love science projects. Okay, I know this is more than an elementary science fair, but still, it's fun to participate.
One study is on the psychological effects of the type of breast reconstruction I'm having (versus other types). I have to fill out a questionnaire this week, and then again in 3 weeks, 6 months, 1 year, and 18 months. Wow, that's thorough.
The other two studies are for tissue research. One would involve my healthy breast tissue, and the other would involve abdominal muscle tissue (but only if they need to take some out during the surgery). Sweet! Go ahead and test the hell out of it, baby. What else were they going to do with the tissue anyway? Just throw it away? Put it in the biohazard incinerator? I will always willingly donate to science. That's cool. I can now add "lab rat" to my list of mutant special powers.
