We got a quick visit with Ave at 10pm. She was doing really well - i'm so proud of her. Even with what she just went through she had her "Ave" sense of humour. She's in a room with a dedicated nurse so she's going to get good care. I'll send out an update tomorrow when I see her in the morning. Thanks for everyone's thoughts and wishes and please no visitors for now. Talk soon.

Intro/Welcome/WTF?
I have a BRCA 1 genetic mutation (aka "The Breast Cancer Gene") that puts me at a high risk for breast and ovarian cancer. I inherited the gene from my mother, who died of ovarian cancer at the age of 52.
I'm 29 years old. I do not have cancer. I don't want to have cancer. So I'm doing everything I can, including a double mastectomy, to prevent it before it even starts. I'm having my surgery on November 12.
