Back at it

I'm back at work today.  Okay, that's a bit of a stretch.  For me, work doesn't involve getting dressed, commuting, or having to interact with coworkers.  I'm still in my housecoat, drinking coffee at 11:30am, and my only coworker is my dog.  Having my own business definitely has its perks.

I'm not back full time - I'm only working part-time from now until after the holidays.  But still, even a bit of work feels good.  I'm digging out my desk from under the piles of junk that have accumulated in the last few weeks, and catching up on what's been going on while I was away.

Ian went back to work today too.  The house is quiet without him; I got used to having him around every day.  I think Isabel (dog) misses him too.  She's sitting under my desk looking kind of sad.

So life is going on as normal.  Time goes more quickly now.  The memory of my surgery is starting to fade a bit, and I have to remind myself that I'm still recovering.  Doesn't take much though - I still have a very long red scar across my abdomen, and if I twist or turn, it hurts.  My foobies feel heavy - like two numb rocks attached to my chest.  I think that's a good thing though - before, I couldn't feel anything.  Now I can feel that they're numb.  So that's a bit of progress, I think.

I still have a ways to go, but I don't mind.  I have things to look forward to.  Dad and Jan are taking the whole family to San Francisco and Napa for New Years, so we're super-pumped for that.  Anybody have any San Fran tips?
